MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT, OCTOBER 2017
I would like to take this opportunity to thank those of you who attended our General Membership meeting on September 27, 2017. As you know, the potential of a Constitutional Convention could be damaging to our livelihood. It was reassuring to see members of other bargaining units, as well as members of the Lindenhurst Board of Education, in attendance. It was even more encouraging to hear board members speak on our behalf at the most recent Board of Education meeting.
A Constitutional Convention will cost upwards of $300 million dollars to New York taxpayers. It is unnecessary considering an amendment process exists that will cost the taxpayers nothing. We simply cannot predict what delegates will do. Therefore, I encourage you to vote NO on Tuesday, November 7th.
