MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT, DECEMBER 2017

As many of you know, our TAL family suffered the loss of one of our members in November with the passing of Richard Price. I had the fortune of getting to know Richard as I visited Harding Avenue Elementary School over the past four years. He was an extraordinary man and loyal union member. He will be missed. I was also honored to be in attendance at the Board of Education Community Forum on November 15th when Richard was honored by Ginamarie Krumholz and Kristen Alamia. Gina and Kristen both spoke on behalf of students and teachers who shared stories about Richard as a colleague and teacher. Gina also spoke to our Central Council about Richard at our December 6th meeting. She was willing to provide me with a copy of what she said so that I am able to share it with all of you. Thank you, Gina and Kristen. We know how difficult it has been.

Many of you have heard of the passing of Harding Avenue’s physical education teacher, Rich Price. We would like to take some time to share with you the person behind the name.
When asked, Mr. Price’s students said he:

  • was always very kind and helpful
  • was fun to be around
  • was a crazy dancer
  • complimented us and knew each of his students
  • taught us not to give up
  • believed in us
  • was a role model and taught us to never leave anyone out

    The teachers said Rich:

  • was always happy and smiling
  • held all of our students to high standards and helped them to achieve those goals
  • took his job seriously
  • had an energy that was infectious
  • always had a positive thought to offer whether you were sitting next to him in the faculty room eating lunch or just passing by his gym during the day.
  • super easy to talk to
  • truly cared about everyone!

    • Now you have a better picture of not only a great Lindenhurst teacher, but a colleague to us, and most importantly, our friend.
