MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT, APRIL 2018

Tell your stories. That is what I am encouraging members to do. Many of you have benefited as members of this local. I am asking that you tell your stories.

In my years as Vice President and President of this local, I have seen many of our contractual rights threatened. There was the case of members potentially being frozen on Step 17 for several years without receiving their longevity increases. There was the case of a club advisor being denied a position in favor of a non-union member. There was the case of a member being injured while breaking up a fight, and having their sick days run out and salary withheld. There is also the never-ending struggle to keep class sizes at a reasonable number.

In the weeks ahead, I will be visiting schools to discuss many of these stories with you. In the meantime, I encourage you to share some of your own.

In Solidarity,
Michael Pastore
