MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT, MARCH 2018

A meeting was held on February 27th between the Teachers’ Association of Lindenhurst and the Superintendent. The Director of Facilities, Health and Safety, Mr. Robert Cozzetto, was in attendance as well. Several of your safety concerns and suggestions were brought to the Superintendent’s attention at the meeting. They are listed as follows:

  1. Two programs are being considered for the purpose of training teachers in health, safety and security. The programs are referred to as ALICE and Stop the Bleed.
  2. Man traps will be installed at the entrances to some schools.
  3. Additional security will be hired at all schools.
  4. All teachers will have access to a key for every classroom that they inhabit, and all doors will be equipped with interior locks.
  5. The District will investigate the safety and security of all cafeterias, as well as any other location that contains a large student population.

Please continue to bring to our attention any safety concerns and suggestions that you may have. This will be achieved in the future by reporting regularly to the SITE Based Committee members in each of your buildings. We will continue to bring them to the attention of the District. I hope that you all have a wonderful spring break.

In Solidarity,
Michael Pastore
